Copyright PermissionsAccording to the Thesis Formatting Guide it is the student's responsibility to obtain necessary permissions for use of previously published figures and tables. In most cases, permission should be obtained from the publisher of the journal or book from which the figure is taken. Although I can not obtain permission for you, the following is a list of links to permission request information from publishers of some of the more commonly used journals. If you do not know who published the journal from which you are taking the figure, use Ulrich's International Periodicals Directory. Not only can you find publication information, but you might also find a link to the publisher's web site.
