Special Collections and Archives
Use Guidelines
Materials in Special Collections & Archives do not circulate but may be consulted in Room L014 on Lower Level 2 of the Reed College Library (down the D staircase or lobby elevator). There are no open shelves; Special Collections & Archives personnel will bring materials to the reader for study under staff supervision. If possible, please call (777-7782) beforehand to ensure that your materials are retrieved and available for your use. We are closed on weekends.
Copies may be made for the reader when authorized by the staff, depending upon copyright restrictions and the condition of the material, but it is the responsibility of the reader to obtain all copyright permissions with the copyright holder for use of any Special Collections & Archives materials in future published works. There is a charge for multiple copies made for readers. Copies of student theses may only be made with the written permission of the author or the author's estate.
No food, drink, or pets are allowed in Special Collections & Archives. Please use pencils or laptops when taking notes. And please wash your hands before handling materials; there is a bathroom in the hall nearby.
