Off Campus Access
Many of the library's electronic resources are available from off campus by Reed community members. Visitors and alumni do not have off campus access privileges.
Computer User Services strongly recommends using the free Firefox web browser with the proxy.
Instructions for Setting Up the Automatic Proxy
--Manual proxy instructions are also available.Special Instructions for ARTStor
To access ARTstor remotely, we recommend you create an ARTstor registered user account from on campus. With this account, you will be able to access ARTstor from off campus for a 120-day remote access grace period. To keep the account active, log in to ARTstor from campus at least once every 120 days so that the 120-day grace period will reset. If you are away from campus at the time that you wish to set up your ARTstor account, you will need to access ARTstor remotely through the manual proxy (the automatic proxy will not work) to set up your account.
Special Instructions for Web of Science
The Web of Science works with the proxy but some users might require one additional step: When you connect to Web of Science after logging into the proxy, you may see a screen with a top banner of broken images from Web of Science and a main screen with another proxy login screen. Ignore the login screen and ctrl-click (Mac) or right-click (Windows) on one of the broken images on the top and select "view image" from the pop-up menu. After the image loads, go back to the previous page, and all the images should now appear.
