Information for Alumni & Visitors
Alumni and visitors are welcome in the library. Please come in!
The library catalog may be searched from any of the computers at the standing desks throughout the library. Each of these computers has a printer that can be used to print out citations from the catalog. If you have a reference question or need to use a specialized index, please speak to a librarian at the reference desk. Most library databases may be used by visitors and alumni while they are visiting campus but license conditions prevent us from offering any off-campus access.
Alumni are eligible to borrow materials from the library; check with the Alumni Office to get your ID card. However, alumni are not eligible to request materials via the Summit catalog. You can request a login and password from Computing Services to access computers in the library and Educational Technology Center (ETC). However, printing from the password-protected computers is limited to current Reed students, staff, and faculty. Alumni may print resumes and job search related materials in the Career Center.
Visitors may not borrow materials from the library or the Summit catalog but are welcome to use materials in the building. We do not provide general internet access for visitors. Reed parents and others with business on campus can request temporary access at the Help Desk in the ETC. The Woodstock branch of the Multnomah County Public Library is just up the street, at 49th & Woodstock, with public computers for internet use.
