How do I access PARC resources such as scores and plays?
All PARC library materials must be requested online via the catalog in advance (current request options and instructions); the stacks will remain closed to browsing throughout Spring 2021. Beginning January 25th, requested materials will be available for contactless pickup outside the PARC.
How do I access PARC equipment such as microphones and iPads?
Beginning January 25th, all equipment must be requested online prior to pickup. Select equipment in high demand for coursework will be able to be reserved in advance. All equipment will check out for seven days. Given the limited supply and high demand, no renewals will be available. Equipment must be returned at the PARC help desk during open hours in the marked return bin and will be quarantined for 72 hours before being available for the next user.
Is the PARC going to be open for studying and/or computer use?
The PARC will only be open for equipment pickup and use of Room 327. Students needing study space are encouraged to take advantage of the PAB atrium.
Can I drop in and check materials or equipment out without requesting it in advance if I have a last-minute need?
Due to space and staffing concerns, we’ll be unable to accommodate ad-hoc requests for materials and equipment. Note, we plan on fulfilling requests at least three times per day, Monday through Thursday, in order to meet needs as quickly as possible.
Can I drop in and ask questions about available equipment, services, resources, etc.?
Since we want to limit in-person interactions and many staff will be working remotely, we ask that you send your questions via email (email@example.com) or contact us via chat (in the right sidebar) whenever possible.
How do I reserve a room?
Room 327 (AV Recording and Editing Workroom) is available by reservation, twice per day, Monday through Thursday, 10am to noon and 1pm to 3pm. Only one reservation will be permitted per person per day.
How do I pick up requested materials and equipment?
All library materials (scores, DVDs, etc.) and select equipment will be available for contactless pickup on a cart outside the PARC. Items will be pre-checked out; just check the enclosed/attached slip for your name, then grab and go. Users can confirm due dates by logging into their library account or emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Most equipment will need to be picked up at the PARC help desk during our open hours. As our doors will remain closed, a door bell system is in place to enable entry, and our desk has been set up to limit contact between staff and users. For both contactless and in-person pickup, you’ll receive an email as soon as your item(s) are available; please do not come to the PARC until you’ve received email confirmation that your item(s) are ready.
Do I need to check in for my room reservation?
When you arrive at the PARC for your room reservation, please ring the bell and check in with your name at the help desk. We will confirm your information and the end time of your reservation before directing you back to the room.
Can I still print to the PARC printer? Can I use the copier/scanner?
Beginning August 31st, 2020, printing may only be done via personal laptops (setup instructions). Print jobs will be made available for contactless pickup three times daily outside the PARC; please do not enter the PARC to pick up your print job. The copier/scanner will not be available for use.
How do I return materials and equipment?
Library materials, including books, CDs, DVDs, plays, and scores can be returned via the book drop outside the PARC or at the main library. Equipment, including microphones, cables, iPads, etc., must be returned at the help desk during our open hours. Ring the bell and drop your items in the marked return bin. Note that all items will be quarantined for 72 hours after return.
What services and resources are available for me to use remotely?
Beginning August 31, 2020, CUS is making select software available via remote connection. See our software page for more information. Ebooks are available to search via the catalog (on the results page, select eBooks under Resource Type), and other online resources such as databases and streaming media platforms are available via the music, dance, and theatre guides. Instruction and consultation services are available online, and we can be reached via chat during open hours as well as via email (email@example.com).
Will the PARC consider expanding its hours and services?
Once essential services are established and new staff have completed training, the PARC may expand its hours and services as circumstances develop and our capacity and resources allow.
I’m unable to come pickup this print score/book or physical CD/DVD; what online options are available?
Ebooks are available to search via the catalog (on the results page, select eBooks under Resource Type), and other online resources such as databases and streaming media platforms are available via the music, dance, and theatre guides. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
