Letter from E.W. Tallant to T.L. Eliot
E.W. Tallant, of Tallant & Sons, Astoria, which was a cannery, wrote to T. L. Eliot on October 19, 1887. In his letter, Tallant told Eliot about his trip down the river and thanked him for his generosity. Tallant goes on to express his appreciation to Eliot for allowing him to stay at his house, but confesses that he was dissatisfied with the salt salmon he was served while visiting the Eliot home. As such, Tallant tells Eliot he is sending salt bellies and canned salmon to him, and tells him the appropriate method for keeping the fish fresh.
