Chemical Weapons Storage Sites

In the figure above, Joseph F. Bunnett, Reed College '42, displays chemical waste storage sites in the United States. The graphic was part of a talk on chemical weapons. Bunnett was a Reed chemistry graduate who went on to earn a PhD from the University of Rochester. He worked as a Research Chemist at the Western Pine Association after earning his PhD before returning to Reed to teach from 1946 to 1952. Bunnett taught at the University of North Carolina, Brown University, and the University of California, Santa Cruz. He had a long career as an expert on chemical warfare agent detection and destruction both internationally and domestically, and played in a role in the demilitarization of the Soviet Union.
